About me

I am Melissa Arcaro, and I am a Scottish Sculptor and Artist. I launched Arcaro Arts back in 2013 and have watched it grow into what it is today.

I have lived in Peterhead for most of my life and am lucky to have my studio workshop at home where I can create my pieces and enjoy the company of my partner and children. With a passion for art, I take intricate care when creating. Everything in my shop is carefully made by hand and the use of a laser. For more about my story, read the section below.

  • My journey, so far...

    I have always had a love of art since I was little. I gained my Higher Art at Peterhead Academy in 2016. I studied Computer Art and Design at Banff and Buchan College, then entered my 2nd year of Sculpture at Robert Gordons University (Gray's School of Art) and completed my degree in 2013 with a BA (HONS) in Sculpture.

    At University, I worked with fresh wood and used chainsaws and band saws to create my sculptures, which were finished using blowtorches to manipulate reactions in the wood as it dried and took its final shape. Over the last ten years, I have worked alongside local schools and in partnership with various youth development schemes, as well as running my gallery. My work has included natural art workshops, team building sculpture classes for transition pupils. I have also run my gallery in town, which also provided many variations of art classes and art supplies, as well as hosting many exhibitions from local artists. It has been a lot of fun, and I have taken a lot of satisfaction from helping the next generation appreciate art, build their confidence and find their creative spark. 

    Now, I use my learnings from over the years and the use of a laser to create beautiful gifts to promote my homeland for others to enjoy. Arcaro Arts has grown naturally over the years, and now I concentrate solely on making Scottish gifts that have been sold and sent all over the world.

    With a love for art, I am passionate about my work and spend a lot of time speaking to customers to understand their needs when making personalised and bespoke gifts. I communicate with them through each step of the process. There is nothing more rewarding than receiving messages thanking me for the work I have done. Making others happy feels good. I have found my niche!

    Every piece is lovingly designed, lasered and hand-crafted, whether it is a stocked product or a personalised product or gift.
